Beyond injury diagnosis, the course highlights the growing role of ultrasound in rehabilitation and performance monitoring, including assessment of muscle architecture, tendon remodeling, and tissue response to loading. These tools allow clinicians to track healing, guide progressive rehabilitation, and support objective return-to-sport decision making.
Participants will also learn focused ultrasound applications relevant to athlete safety and emergency medicine, including recognition of pneumothorax, detection of free fluid using the extended FAST (eFAST) examination, and cardiovascular screening applications such as basic echocardiography, inferior vena cava assessment, abdominal aortic aneurysm screening, and deep vein thrombosis evaluation.

Why this course...
Point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) is rapidly becoming an essential tool in elite sports medicine, allowing clinicians to perform immediate assessment of musculoskeletal injury, physiologic readiness, and acute medical conditions directly at the exam table or sideline. For sports medicine professionals working with high-performance athletes, ultrasound provides a unique ability to bridge diagnostic imaging, rehabilitation monitoring, and emergency assessment within a single modality.
